The Director of Staff Development is primarily responsible to ensure compliance with staff training requirements per PLS policies and standards as well as Chapter 83 and 88 regulatory requirements. This position encompasses a variety of duties associated with training and staff development. The Director of Staff Development is responsible for identifying training needs of the company, leading and or assisting in development of training and presenting training courses internally to PLS staff.
Critical Functions of Primary Duties:
Develop, lead and upkeep general orientation practices.
Ensure that all new employees are provided with an engaging and knowledge filled general orientation.
Work directly with the Staff Empowerment Specialist to ensure employee engagement remains strong beyond general orientation and the 4-day orientation.
Intro-90 Day Training and Continuing Education Training
Ensure company-wide compliance with orientation, introductory and continuing education requirements.
Employee Recruitment and Retention
Work directly with Vice President to identify and participate in recruiting events within both regions of operation.
Work directly with regional staff to ensure an ongoing recruiting presence at local colleges and universities.
Work directly with the Staff Empowerment Specialist to ensure goals and metrics are being met to retain staff members.
Qualifications and Skills
- This position requires an Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree in Communications, Business or related area. A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a direct care field such as a CBRF or other Assisted Living Facility setting is required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable speaking to both small and large groups. Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Power Point required. Experience using screen capture and video creation software preferred.
