American Express is looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager (TPM) with experience in Incident Response, Threat Detection, or Hunt fields to join the Threat Detection and Hunt (TDH) team. The TDH team within the Information Security organization analyzes available logs and data to identify, investigate and handle potential security events. The TPM is responsible for supervising analyst capacity as they contribute towards improving log telemetry, developing new detections and alerts, developing metrics and tracking requirements and requests for other teams, while providing an environment for the TDH analysts to deliver without interruptions. This position will work closely with business partners, auditors, architects, system engineers across multiple teams, acting as a single point of contact for the team. Prospective candidates need to have a good understanding of the information security landscape to work with analysts & engineers to develop requirements, lead projects and deliver results.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize, plan and execute the development schedule for new detections

  • Prioritize and track feature enhancement and requirements for Security Engineering teams

  • Working with other TPMs across tech and business to understand prioritizations, dependencies, and help design an overall project roadmap for success

  • Monitoring and appropriately escalating delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes tied to the team’s capability development initiatives

  • Creating both business and tech-facing artifacts to clearly illustrate the teams work, beyond technical documentation

  • Ensuring deliverables across TDH are of high-quality with clear documentation

  • Managing stakeholders– prioritizing requests, gaining alignment, and setting expectations on project delivery

  • Working with tech partners and engineers to deliver clear requirements in support of solution development and business process improvements

  • Responding to audit requests by performing required data analysis and submitting evidence to close the requests

Qualifications

  • Preferably a BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other technical discipline OR 8 years of Information Technology management experience in the area of Information Security

  • Technical Project Management experience

  • Experience with SIEMs, security logging, incident response, cyber threat intel, threat detection, and hunt is preferred

  • Experience dealing with Audit Requests will be added plus

  • Have prior experience working with security analysts and/or data engineers and managing large projects

  • Ability to effectively interpret Technical and Business objectives as well as challenges and support the team in delivering

  • Ability to drive projects end-to-end, work with a diverse set of teams spread across the globe and challenge the status quo

  • Willingness to learn new technologies, experiment and use them to their maximum potential

  • Understanding of Agile Scrum and Kanban methodologies with demonstrated ability to implement Agile methodologies within teams

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; communicating across third parties and technical and business product managers especially using online collaboration tools

  • Experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams

  • Experience with Confluence, Jira or similar.
