Saint-Gobain Boron Nitride is looking for a Process Engineer to join us at our site in Amherst, NY. As the Process Engineer, you will work to plan, design, and improve new manufacturing processes that will help reshape our site’s product lines. The Process Engineer role serves as a key leader in improving the efficiency of our manufacturing processes and developing new methods as needed. The Process Engineer serves as a key driver behind digital integration in the plant. This position focuses on meeting internal and external customer expectations, helps to prevent foreseeable problems, and strives for continuous improvement that goes beyond anticipated results for themselves, customers, and fellow employees. Essential Functions include:
Project management:• Coordinate site-wide digital integration projects aimed at increasing the availability and connectivity of process, quality, and customer data.• Propose and execute projects aimed at improving process control and reducing variability in production• Collaborate with production staff to develop accurate and complete process documentation (work instructions, test procedures, etc).• Manage small to large scale projects as needed to meet production targets and Manufacturing 4.0 goals.
Process Improvement:• Lead cross-functional teams while managing new product introduction projects, working to optimize cost, quality, and manufacturability.• Improve the site’s utilization and process capability principles to control manufacturing proactively to ensure product quality. • Research, develop, and implement new technologies to continuously improve safety, quality, and efficiency of production.• Work closely with the EHS department to ensure that all new processes and materials are safe and compliant with local and federal regulations.• Work closely with the Quality, Sales, and Customer Service functions to ensure that process changes are aligned with customer needs.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline• 3 to 5 years of relevant engineering experience in implementing and developing new processes• Ability to travel 10% - 20% of the time for trainings, meetings, and customer visits• Strong project management skills• Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles (certification is a plus)• Exposure and general knowledge of SCADA systems (such as Ignition) and Manufacturing 4.0• Data Analytical • Experience in either a Quality Engineering role or Automation Engineering role is desired
