JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Description: Summary: Responsible for consistent regulatory compliance, coordination of day to day operations, and assisting lab leadership and laboratory employees in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Guides operations to ensure positive patient outcomes. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field, or ability to obtain within two years of hire, is required. Current certification as Medical Technologist or equivalent, or ability to obtain within two years based on completion of educational requirements. Minimum of two years hospital laboratory experience preferred. Essential Duties Maintains an environment of collaboration and cooperation with other hospital departments and with other colleagues in the HealthPartners family. Responsible for day to day operations of the lab in the absence of the manager. Assists manager in developing and maintaining a comprehensive quality improvement plan as well as annual department plan. Ensures that all aspects of departmental operations are performed in an environment that optimizes patient and workplace safety. Participates in meetings and committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required. Identifies and understands requirements to ensure that the laboratory is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations pertinent to the management of the laboratory. Ensures assigned managed systems operate within the constraints of budget requirements. Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures, and assists with revisions as requested. Establishes a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed. Establishes the acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensures these levels are maintained throughout the testing process. Resolves technical problems and ensures corrective action is taken and test systems are operating appropriately. Reviews all QC data and ensures instrument maintenance and logs are completed and submitted as assigned. Commonly works on the bench and maintains competence to perform duties as needed. Performs Proficiency Testing as assigned. Leads new employee orientation and training efforts within the department along with ongoing staff competencies. Acts as a technical resource for staff. Assists Laboratory leadership with scheduling; insures adequate and appropriately trained team members. Assists manager with Employee Engagement efforts Responsible for personal and professional development. Completes all other duties as assigned.
