TEKsystems Systems Administrator in Albuquerque, New Mexico


The Systems Administrator III will design, install, configure, optimize, and maintain integrity of highly complex information systems Microsoft SharePoint, VMware and EMC environments. Deliver expertise and supervision of a modern hyper-converged Infrastructure containing virtualized servers and VMware Horizon Desktops. Design and allocate resources to support multiple environments of all ranges of testing and production. Develop long-term strategic and capacity utilization plans of a cloud computing services environment ranging from full applications and development platforms, to server, storage and virtual desktops.

How does it get done?

-Design, develop, install, and maintain information systems, utilities, and applications.

-Resolve system emergencies with significant impact on the integrity of user data and systems.

-Establish software/hardware standards and systems policies and procedures.

-Engage in long-term strategic planning regarding systems development and integration.

-Evaluate and procure tools for monitoring network and system efficiency.

-Conceptualize and implement systems within broad technical or structural frameworks.

-Perform capacity planning for system configuration, software services, network services, load distribution, and service interrelationships among computer systems.

-Act as a technical expert or lead for local computer system administration.

-Act as project leader on large-scale computing projects in which strong technical, directional, and personal leadership is necessary; assign and oversee the work of other system administrators as needed.

-Design, configure, implement, and maintain system security strategies, policies, and procedures. -Apply skills in complex multi-system platforms.

-Apply skills in coordinating multi-system and computing environments in independent computing facilities.

-Apply skills in developing/implementing a business continuation and disaster recovery plan.

-Develop appropriate plans to meet computing needs.

-Lead and work on large/complex system deployment projects in a team environment.

-Apply knowledge of security trends and best practices.

-Administer storage and backup solutions.

-Help develop long-term strategic and capacity utilization plans.

-Collaborate with upper management and others in order to develop, communicate and manage a central strategic plan for enterprise computing and information technology that is consistent with NM DVR’s overall mission.

The ideal candidate for this job will have:

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

Comfortable presenting in front of audiences and able to communicate technical information to both highly-technical and non-technical audiences.

Able to document technical findings in a concise, time efficient and understandable manner.

Familiar with Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems.

Experience with supporting a VMware environment

Experience with supporting a VMware Horizons (VDI) environment

Experience with EMC VNXe3200's, Data Domain 2200s, Isilon X2

Experience with Avamar Suite


Window, system Admin, VMware, Powershell scripting, Powershell, Linux

Top Skills Details:

*Note: this will either be a 6 month C2H, *

  1. 5 years VMware

  2. 5 years of VDI using VMware horizons

  3. 5 years of Active directory & Group Policy management / patch management
