Tantus Technologies, Inc. Network Engineer - Top Secret Clearance in Albuquerque, New Mexico

This role fulfills an open requirement for Tantus' protégé firm, CSS.

Cyber Security Solutions (CSS), a Tantus Technologies protege company, is seeking a Network Engineer who will provide technical guidance and demonstrate leadership to engineering teams. The person in this role will primarily serve in Tier 3 engineering support role for the enterprise data network platforms performing various activities such as but not limited to troubleshooting, performance issues and performing break-fix network changes. You will have minimum five years’ experience in a classified environment and a strong knowledge of Incident, Problem and Change Management processes. You will drive technical resolution of High-Severity & Low Severity Incidents and will provide direct support of Problem Management process, including Post-Mortem participation and presentations. Also help govern device remediation and Operational Resiliency activities. In addition to Cisco IOS and Nexus experience, possess strong to advanced knowledge of routing / switching, carrier services and data center services.

  • Complete assigned tasks independently, or as part of a larger project team.

  • Configure network infrastructure device operating systems, determine hardware specifications, and validate system performance.

  • Execute performance tuning, operational process development, and security configuration management in accordance with best practices, standards, and procedures.

  • Operate and maintain network infrastructure devices including, but not limited to patching, system upgrade, backup, and system configuration.

  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine the real or underlying cause of an incident in order to prevent future recurrences.

  • Support analysis, triage and break/fix of infrastructure system-related trouble tickets.

  • Produce detailed network design documents and diagrams

  • Support management reporting requirements.

  • Help maintain, manage, upgrade, and optimize hardware and software

  • Be responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance

  • Plan, implement, and maintain systems configuration

  • Manage installations

  • Perform routine software, hardware, firmware upgrades, patches, and fixes

  • Follow configuration management procedures

  • Work with Azure

  • Prepare technical specifications and documentation

  • Contribute to cybersecurity

  • Recommend technical standards and policies

  • Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot, maintain, and implement hardware and software

  • Analyze and help improve system performance

  • Provide TIER II and/or TIER III support services

  • Document and transfer knowledge to fellow staff through training

  • Conduct systems inventory and updates asset management documentation

  • Document and update systems architecture drawings and server rack elevations using Microsoft Visio

  • Help develop strategies and plans

  • Provides technical assistance, training and system documentation for users to promote efficient operation of applications.

  • Active Top Secret clearance

  • 5+ years experience supporting network infrastructure projects within a classified environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, computer science or in information technology.

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in designing and implementing network supporting datacenter system virtualization, application load balancing, application hosting, application acceleration

  • 5+ years of enterprise and campus networking includes but not limited Cisco Switches and Routers, Cisco ISE, 802.1x, LAN, Remote Access VPN.

  • Intermediate level network troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

  • Understanding of ITIL processes and integration into enterprise IT Services team

  • Strong knowledge of the following technologies:

  • Intermediate infrastructure planning knowledge (power, cooling, cabling, etc.)

  • Intermediate knowledge of network switching and routing configurations

  • Firewalls

  • Proxy Servers and Content Management

  • IPSEC and SSL VPNs

  • Encryption and cryptography configurations in a Federal government computing environment (COMSEC)

  • Understanding of high-availability design including replication and load balancing

  • Network security and defense-in-depth strategies

  • Intermediate skill level in operation and maintenance of VoIP and POTS services

  • Basic knowledge of network security instrumentation and implementation practices

  • Understanding of implementation and release practices, configuration management, and the development lifecycle

  • Customer service focus, and strong interface/communication skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Some limited travel required (< 5%)

  • Must be available for off-hours work and participate in rotating on-call responsibilities.

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Working knowledge of system hardening (STIGs, SRGs, regulatory compliance)

  • CCNA, CCNP or CCIE Datacenter Routing and Switching certification

  • Strong experience directly related to cloud networking (Azure, AWS, Openstack, VMware), SD-WAN, SDN (software defined network), with building automated workflow using Rest API and orchestrations tool.
