Expeditors Distribution Manager in Alajuela, Costa Rica

Scope of Position

Manages the Warehouse & distribution product for the branch.

The distribution manager owns the operation responsibility, continuous improvement, customer retention, seeks new service opportunities and cooperates to turn new opportunities into profitable business.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Business development• Process improvement• Implementations support• Customer retention• Operational follow up

People• Supervisory/management responsibilities for distribution office and warehouse personnel• Define development plans for direct staff• Evaluates employee performance• Address the training needs of the individuals (temps / EI employees)

Operations• Ensure along with the team of proper performance of operational performance indicators• Follow up on work procedures, schedules, and workflows• Analyze and determine process improvements in order to gather internal efficiencies or customer faced benefits• Develop initiatives and projects to improve operations from a financial, operative and people perspective, according to the industry and business segmentation focus.

Business development• Actively participate in the development program within the department to secure and maintain new customers. • Develop product offerings to attract potential customer attention and develop new businesses• Identify needs and sells detailed and tailored services that provide value-added services to potential clients

Finance• Revenue, cost and expense management to gather efficient and profitable operations• Works on department budget and accounting

Systems• Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department. • Be involved and suggest system/process improvements.

• Ability to define, develop and document business processes and procedures• Must be successful in managing effective deployment of resources, systems and personnel to enable achievement of organizational objectives. • Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to relate to customers and employees at all levels.

Education and Experience• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four year college or university; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience• Experience with MS Windows, MS Office Products • Strong market and competition knowledge• Fluent English
