Savannah River Remediation is seeking a Senior Engineer III - Structural Mechanics to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site. This position is responsible for advanced structural analyses of various structures to validate their design adequacy for normal operation and accident loading conditions. Advanced structural analyses include:
Seismic Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI)
Dynamic seismic analysis (response spectra and time-history)
Development of in-structure seismic response spectra
Evaluation of structural responses for tornado winds, missile penetration precipitation (rain, flood, snow), and explosion (blast/detonation and deflagration)

Savannah River Remediation LLC, a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRR is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders Amentum, Bechtel, BWXT, and Jacobs. The SRR Team is responsible for the closure of waste tanks, the operation of the Savannah River Site’s Defense Waste Processing Facility, tank farm operations and associated production and disposal facilities. www.srremediation.com
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering and 6+ years of related experience; or
MS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and 4+ years of related experience, or
PhD degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and 2+ years of related experience
Knowledge of engineering principles and practices to develop appropriate outputs
In-depth knowledge of the conventional technology in the specialized field, computer applications, Industry Codes and Standards, design control, and Department of Energy requirements.
Working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, or similar computer codes.
Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards including IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ASCE, ACI (318 & 349), and ASME Section III Div 2.
Working knowledge of SASSI, DYNA3D
Working knowledge of seismic equipment qualification
Good organizational and communication skills.
Expresses ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing.
Works well in an environment of multiple demands and shifting directions and priorities.
Ability to perform field walk-downs
