Tufting Operator IV - 3rd Shift

Position Overview

Responsibilities:

Read and interpret tufting machine diagram to ensure thread up and count is correct with requirements

Record roll numbers and lengths on Turf Roll Sheet

Run rolls with extra attention to starting and ending rolls to ensure most accurate lengths

Change machine hooks, needles and blades as needed.

Mend all styles of carpet.

Complete daily production reports at the end of each shift.

Pay close attention and inspect carpet for any defects and verify the size of the rug and width of roll matches the specifications on the work order.

Give direction to creelers and menders.

Complete an explanation of all extended down times.

General housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment. - Perform all tasks associated with the creelers and menders.

Assist supervisors as needed with any additional duties.

To be responsible for the manufacturing of first quality carpet and all required elements involved in the operations of a tufting machine.

Requirements:

Must be able to recognize numbers.

Must have a general understanding of tufting operation procedures.

Must have creel knowledge.

Must have experience in mending.

Must have some mechanical ability.

Must be able to pass an operator/mender eye exam administered by authorized personnel.

Must be able to work in confined area for repairs on machinery (no permit required).

Must be able to hold and maneuver a mending gun weighing approximately 7-10 lbs.

Must be able to stand or walk for the majority of shift.

Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry loads of up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp and reach frequently.

Must be able to work in industrial environment with elevated noise levels, dust, dirt, humidity and temperature variations.

Must participate in pre-shift stretching exercises.

Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and associates.

Must be able to work well under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines. Must be able to comply with all plant policies.

Must be able to read and analyze reports and information.

Must be able to work in various situations and with management.

Must be able to recognize various types of defects.

Must be able to perform tasks quickly and safely
