At present, we operate 32 licensed Opiate Treatment Programs (OTP) and 44 Office Based Opioid Treatment centers (OBOTs) in multiple states. We are seeking a compassionate and strong OBOT Substance Abuse Counselor at our OBOT center located in Abingdon, Va. and travel to Wytheville, Va. when needed. The OBOT Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for the direct provision of substance abuse counseling services including gathering data, documenting problems, and establishing a course of treatment for patients receiving treatments in an Office Based Opioid Treatment Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties that are assigned:
Regular local travel between the towns of Abingdon - Wytheville, Va. ( REQUIRED )
Work with patients to develop recovery skills through treatment planning, care coordination, referrals, and group or individual counseling sessions
Contributing to the ongoing assessment and treatment planning process through participation in daily reports, case reviews, and treatment team meetings.
Providing crisis interventions as needed.
Ensuring patient confidentiality.
Providing supportive counseling in conjunction with Medical and Nursing Services.
Ensure patients submit to monthly random drug screening
The most qualified candidates will possess the following:
Bachelors degree in Counseling or a related field.
Must have at least one year of experience as a substance abuse counselor.
Must be registered with the Virginia Substance Abuse Professional Certification board - applicants who are not registered will not be considered for employment. (LPC or LCSW)
Experience treating opiate-addicted patients is not a requirement but is preferred.
No legal impediments to serving in a licensed opiate treatment program.
Must have a valid driver's license.
If recovering, three years of continuous verifiable abstinence is required.
